Classes in the fall start in September at LGS Recreation in Los Gatos, California.
Online registration now is available. You can register to any of the classes from here. Just click the registration button next to the class and it will take you to the Center’s website.

PLEIN AIR AT OAK MEADOW – NEW ONE IN OCTOBER
Location: Oak Meadow Park Los Gatos, CA – Gazebo
All mediums. All levels. Get inspired by the outdoors! Learn how to choose a subject, using light/dark values, color mixing and approaches. LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS CLASS HERE
Learn to layer bold colors with different blending techniques. Finish a project each class, paint-a-long to explore tones, brushstrokes techniques, and color combinations. Learn about this class HERE
Paint a-long and learn all the steps to be successful in making a beautiful landscape. Techniques will be presented while doing the live demo. Learn more about this class HERE
In this class you will learn the basic techniques of painting with watercolor. Through simple and fun exercises you will get confidence painting with the medium. There will be at least three small projects in each class that will be demonstrated step by step and where you can paint-a-long. By the end of each class you will have finished exercises and paintings that will build up your skills. This class will bring you confidence with the medium and will help you move to the next level. No previous experience of knowledge is required for this class.
Basic materials you should have for this class:
-Cold press watercolor paper
– Basic set of watercolor paints
– Set of watercolor brushes include round brushes number 4, 6, 10 and a rigger brush for details.

Every class we will learn how to paint three little fun paintings like the ones show below. We will learn fun different techniques.
Learn how to mix colors wet and wet to get fun effects.
Learn how to paint shadows and create different tones.
Learn to use delicate strokes in watercolor to create fun effects.
Learn how to use loose strokes with your paint and brush to create movement.
Learn using a limited palette of colors to create a harmonious painting.

Learn to paint watercolor on Yupo (Synthetic Paper). Experiment with fun techniques on synthetic paper. But what exactly is Yupo? Yupo is a synthetic paper that is tree-free. It is a waterproof, tear-resistant, very durable, smooth, and 100% recyclable paper. The water and pigment do not absorb into the paper so it allows you to manipulate the paint until the water evaporates creating super fun watery textures. It is an ideal medium those who want to experiment with less traditional watercolor techniques.
Basic materials for this class:
Yupo paper (pads are the best option)
Watercolor set of paints Brushes size 4, 8 round brushes and a size 4 filbert brush
Small palette
Q- tips
Paper towels
Masking Tape
Water container
Wash cloth

Through a friendly and fun method you can learn to paint in watercolor at LGS Recreation in Los Gatos this Spring. Your instructor: Elvira Rascov Watercolor Live Instruction classes are scheduled every Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 to 6:00 pm and Thursday mornings from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Spring Watercolor Live Instruction – Afternoon Eight Session Class
Dates: March 19 to May 21, 2024 (No class 4/2 and 4/9)
Watercolor Live Instruction Classes Winter and Spring 2024 at LGS Recreation.
This Spring there will be classes Tuesday afternoons 3:30 to 6:00 pm and Thursday Mornings 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Classes start March 19.

About this Courses
In this fun course students will have the opportunity to practice and learn basic to advance techniques in watercolor. Throughout the course there will be different demos and step by step paint-a-long exercises where students will learn and improve their watercolor skills. Students will be able to finish a painting at the end of each class. This course is designed for beginners to intermediate levels of painting. Advanced students are welcome to participate in this class if they want to refresh their watercolor skills in a friendly and fun environment. Drop-in option available. Watercolor Mother’s Day Cards

About this Course
Surprise the women in your life with a hand painted watercolor card on Mother’s Day! In this workshop you will learn how to paint 3 different watercolor and ink cards. The instructor will provide the images and you will paint-a-long. Class is designed for all levels of painting. Basic materials you should have for this class: -Basic set of watercolor paints -140lb/300 gm watercolor paper -Set of watercolor brushes include round brushes number 4, 6, 10 or 12 and a rigger brush for details. -Low tack masking tape -Masking fluid -A black ink liner 0.3 or 0.5 (Micron brand) or (Faber Castell) The simplest way to make the cards is to fold a sheet of paper in half, but you can also find watercolor postcards ready to pop in an envelope if you prefer.

About this Course
It is fun to send friends and family your own watercolor cards. In this class you will have the opportunity to learn how to make your own holiday cards. With simple watercolor techniques you will make four different holiday cards. Using wet and wet techniques, glazing, masking to reserve whites you will be able to make beautiful winter and holiday scenes. The instructor will provide the images for the cards and the students will paint-a-long to create their own cards. At the end of the class, you will have three original cards that you can send family and friends.

It’s time for a beer and a paint, just in time for the holidays!! Join Elvira Rascov and Elvira Gallery, at Narrative Fermentations, Happy Hollow Park & Zoo and Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) for a fun watercolor painting event on November 11th from 12-3 at Narrative Fermentations! We will be painting cheetah cards and because it is so close to the holidays we can teach you how to paint them for holiday gift giving!! Dr. Laurie Marker, Founder of Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) will be there, so this is a great opportunity to meet her and learn more about her work in Africa and how some of this work can be translated to how we protect our wildlife here.
This will be a fun time so come over and let us celebrate the cheetah and animals together with a beer and a couple painted cards!!

Let’s learn how to paint a landscape with trees and grasses. Composition is very important and we will learn the key elements for an attractive painting.
Classes on November 14 and November 16
Let’s paint humming birds in watercolor! Using a loose approach and transparency these birds are fun to paint.
Classes on November 28 and November 30
Let’s paint a modern still life. Learn how to paint reflections in glass, composition of different elements and shadows.
Classes on December 5 and December 7
Let’s learn composition, taking notes of live places and how to paint different kind of trees. We can even add people to the landscape. This image could be different from the actual one we are going to make in this specific class
