As the end of the year is approaching many students are starting to ask me about the upcoming year classes. I have made a list by date of the classes and on December 5^th I will add the registration links. The Center’s classes goes live on that date.

Watercolor Live Instruction Winter/Spring 2026

Finish a painting at the end of each class following step-by-step
instruction. Students will have the opportunity to learn and
practice basic to advanced techniques in watercolor.

TEXTURE IN WATERCOLOR Add depth and visual interest using

CHARCOAL DRAWING Develop observational skills by drawing still

LANDSCAPES FROM PHOTOS TO ART Create a vibrant and
expressive painting based on a reference photo. Using watercolor

Unlike other printmaking processes that produce multiple identical copies a mono print
is only one impression. Use a plexiglass board to make a design
with watercolor crayons. Transfer to a watercolor paper using the
printing press.

Fall 2025 Art Classes at LGS Recreation

This fall, I’ll be offering exciting new classes at LGS Recreation! Get an introduction to five different mediums in the Five Mixed Media Bundle class. You can take all five classes at a discounted rate—including materials fees—or choose to enroll in individual sessions.

In addition to the regular Watercolor Live Instruction classes, I’ll be offering two new workshops this fall called “Watercolor Landscapes: From Photo to Art.” In these workshops, you’ll learn how to transform your favorite photos into beautiful watercolor landscapes, step by step.

Two New Art Workshops in April

SCRATCHBOARD ILLUSTRATION – EASTER BUNNY Workshop

Date: Saturday April 15th, 2025

About this Course

Learn how to draw an Easter Bunny on scratchboard. Scratchboard art is a type of engraving that uses a sharp tool to scratch away black surface to reveal a white color. Think of it as reverse drawing – instead of making dark marks on a white paper, you create light marks on a dark surface to create an image. Scratchboard art it is commonly used to create realistic portraits of animals.

Materials provided with $5 fee.

About this Course

In this class you will learn to paint landscapes with gouache (opaque watercolor). Gouache is a wonderful medium that allows you to layer bold colors with different blending techniques. The instructor will have a project for the class where you can paint-a-long while you familiarize yourself with gouache paint by exploring tones, brushstroke techniques and understanding color combinations. No previous experience or knowledge is required for this class.

Materials for this class

Gouache paints a selection of primary colors plus black and white (Winsor and Newton brand)

Synthetic paintbrushes: One half inch angle shader, a quarter inch filbert brush, a size 8 round brush, and a size two round brush. These are basic suggested brushes to bring to class.

Watercolor paper 120 LB

A palette to mix your paints.

A detailed list of materials will be sent to you when you sign up for the class.

NEW 5 Mixed Mediums- Discovery Bundle
Discover new ways of art expression. Take an individual class or
experiment with all 5 mediums and receive a discount. Materials

ALCOHOL INK ON YUPO Alcohol inks provide intense color and
bright white surface of the yupo paper helps intensify the vibrancy
of the painting. The alcohol inks will glide across the surface creating
different effects. Make a floral painting and experiment with color
combinations and other techniques.
