Watercolor Painting – All Levels Welcome!

Join us for a creative and engaging watercolor course designed for both beginners and returning artists. In a friendly and supportive environment, you’ll explore a wide range of techniques — from the basics of brushwork and color mixing to more advanced methods for creating depth, texture, and detail.

Each class includes live demonstrations and step-by-step paint-along exercises. You’ll finish a complete painting by the end of every session — building both your skills and confidence as an artist.

Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or looking to refine your style, this course offers something for everyone.

🎨 What You’ll Learn:

  • Brush handling and control techniques
  • Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting
  • Color mixing and value studies
  • Creating floral compositions and landscape elements
  • How to finish a painting with detail and contrast

🖌 Materials to Bring:

  • Cold press watercolor paper
  • Basic set of watercolor paints
  • Brushes: round brushes (sizes 4, 6, 10) and a rigger brush for fine details
    A complete materials list will be emailed two weeks before the first class.

Elvira Rascov, an accomplished Colombian American artist, loves to render nature in watercolors and oils. Elvira has taken her art a notch further, and used these painting techniques to create groovy functional ceramics.
Inspired by her early teachers in Bogotá, Elvira teaches Art throughout the Bay Area, making painting fun and expressive.
When she is not busy capturing the soft California landscapes with its soothing hues of yellows and greens, she is experimenting with cityscapes.

NEW AFTERNOON Watercolor Live Instruction Classes Fall 2023 at LGS Recreation

I am excited to announce that this Fall 2023 starting September 12 I will be offering late afternoon and morning classes at Los Gatos- Saratoga Community Education and Recreation. Classes will be at the Los Gatos Adult Recreation Center – 208 East Main St. Los Gatos, CA 95030

For your convenience these are the Classes with the links for registration. Also take a look at some of the projects that we are going to do in class.

All classes are six sessions each.

These are some samples of projects we will do in class. More projects will be added later.

Let’s learn how to paint water reflections in watercolor. In this class we will work with transparencies and values.

Bunnies are fun animals to paint in watercolor. We will learn to mix colors on paper to get different color effects.

Flowers using a negative painting technique that create fun effects and transparent layers on the watercolor painting.

How about a children’s book illustration using watercolor and ink?

Let’s learn how to combine two mediums to create fun illustrations.

A contemporary still life is a fun project to paint. You will learn composition and how to paint reflections and shadows in watercolor.

A landscape made with watercolor and ink will be an inspiration to learn how to paint outside the classroom. New techniques to take notes and sketches that will be use later to create a fun composition in watercolor.
