Explore the fun and surprising world of monoprinting in this hands-on art workshop with artist and instructor Elvira Rascov.

A monoprint is a unique type of printmaking in which each print is a one-of-a-kind impression. Unlike traditional printmaking, where the goal is often to create multiple identical prints, monoprinting allows you to experiment and create an original image each time.

In this workshop, students will use watercolor crayons to create a colorful design or painting directly on a plexiglass plate. The image is then transferred onto watercolor paper using a printing press, revealing the beautiful and often unexpected qualities of the monoprinting process.

Students will learn how to prepare their printing plate, explore mark-making and color, and use the printing press to create their own unique artwork. The process is playful and experimental, making it enjoyable for both beginners and students with previous art experience.

No previous printmaking experience is necessary. This is a relaxed and creative workshop where students can experiment with color and imagery while discovering a new way of making art.

Students will leave with their own original monoprint and an introduction to a versatile technique they can continue exploring in their own artwork.
