DESCRIPTION:About this Course \nScratchboard Illustration: Drawing with Light \nDiscover the fascinating art of scratchboard illustration in this fun\, hands-on workshop with artist and instructor Elvira Rascov. \n Scratchboard is a unique drawing technique that works almost in reverse. Instead of drawing dark lines on white paper\, you use a special tool to scratch away a black surface\, revealing the lighter layer underneath.By varying the pressure\, direction\, and density of your marks\, you can create beautiful textures\, details\, light\, and shadows. \nIn this introductory workshop\, students will learn the basic techniques of scratchboard illustration and create their own finished artwork. We will explore how to use different types of marks to create texture and dimension\, with a special focus on creating realistic subjects such as animals\, birds\, or other natural forms. \nNo previous drawing experience is required. Beginners are welcome\, and students with some drawing experience can use the workshop to explore a new medium and develop their observational and rendering skills. \nWhat students will learn: \nBasic scratchboard techniques and tools\nHow to create different textures and patterns\nHow to use light and dark to create depth and dimension\nTechniques for rendering fur\, feathers\, and other natural textures\nHow to develop a simple reference image into a finished scratchboard illustration \nAll necessary materials will be provided.
